Bailing out the big three

I've been thinking it would be folly to give huge loans to GM, Ford, and Chrysler, however, the alternative would be to allow one or all to go bankrupt. Chapter 11 bankruptcy would doom the sales of the company in question. Now what?

If one of the Big Three did go bankrupt, the UAW contract would be subject to renegotiation. And because the UAW tries very hard to get the same deal with each of the auto makers, that the contract MAY be renegotiable with the remaining "not quite bankrupt" companies as well.

So, it occurs to me that the feds could kill one sick bird and get two healthy ones by lending money to GM to buyout Chrysler (something they've been talking about already) and then let Chrysler declare Chapter 11 (which they are about to do anyway) as a means to push GM and the UAW back to the bargaining table. Once completed, Ford would then be in a place to demand similar terms from the UAW.

Of course, the Democrats would not like that too much, particularly the Michigan contingent (Gov. Granholm would have an apoplexy).

Might not be such a bad plan after all.

It really doesn't matter how the California people vote. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (the most overturned court in the country) will negate any ballot measure that does not please the ultra liberal San Fransisco/Las Angeles agenda.

So now, Radical Lesbians, who decided to create a "Right to Marry" out of thin air (there is no "right to marry", even for straight couples). They got froth-mouthed morons to believe that "rights" were being taken away and worked them into a lather to attempt to defeat Prop 8.

They Lost.

Not that they really have to worry - the liberal court will take it all away again. But this agitated minority are so worked up that they have taken to wanton destruction as a method of political speech. I can just hear the Mormon leaders in their secret meetings now...

Ok guys, the gays are spray painting our sidewalks so I think we had better give in. Let's come out in support of Gay Marriage!

Really gays? What is the message here, other than we lost and we're pissed!? That's a really eloquent political message.

The simple matter is that gay marriage is no more a marriage than Obama's Middle Class Tax Cut is a tax cut. What we really have here are 2 things:

1. Lesbians wanting to play dress up, because the lesbian lifestyle doesn't offer them the whole white dress thing.
2. gay couples wanting to tap into corporate and government benefits designed to benefit real marriages and families

Both of these things are counterproductive not only to those who value real marriage, but also to the whole gay/lesbian lifestyle. The whole point of the gay and lesbian lifestyle is to give the middle finger to normal society. And granted, fucking up the institution of marriage is pretty fun for them. But years from now when the dust settles Gays and Lesbians are going to find that they have been so mainstreamed that it's lost all it's shock value...

"Yeah, go do your homework."

Now realize this: I'm not young anymore and I can tell you right now that I will never accept the fantasy of gay marriage. Calling something marriage doesn't make it so.

Until I'm gone, who's looking after the rights of all those Californians who voted Prop 8 in? Do you care about their rights? They didn't take anything away from you - other than your 2 Barbie Dolls together in white dresses fantasy. The only reason you had it in the first place was because of a bogus court ruling. California voters just decided to help the courts define marriage.

Congratulations on your victory. I see a new hope dawning across the nation as you prepare to take office and lead.

Your website asks us to share our story and list the issues we find the most important going forward.

I am a Software Engineer. I was laid off from E-LOAN.com last January and have been struggling to build a website design business on my own. Essentially I have been living on a meager income and savings all during 2008.

Last month my daughter was married, and even though we're financially hurting, the wedding brought home to me the things that are most important. I think you'll find my wants and needs very easy to accommodate from a government perspective.

I could turn to you and ask for subsidies or credits or government investment in my business, but I don't want that. All I want is a fair chance to make this business work.

To me, that means low taxes (as close to 0% as possible), and minimal government interference in the daily operation of my business. With that, I could possibly hire a few part time employees and maybe even a few software and network engineers in2009.

But as it is now, with my investments tanking and the value falling out of the US Dollar, your "promise" to dissolve the Bush Tax cuts and increase taxes further; I am having to hunker down and try to preserve capital. I have lost 2 of my 4 clients due to the economy, and it's getting harder and harder to find new clients, because business is not willing to sign on the dotted line right now.

So please. I don't want or need a huge new government program. I don't need a handout. I don't need a sweetheart Government contract. I am an American and I am willing to succeed or fail by the sweat of my brow. All I need from government is to let me keep what I earned. Not a penny more.

Election Summary 2008

Here's a quick Checklist of what just happened - from the conservative point-of-view.

• Conservatives did not lose the election on November 4. They lost when the Republicans nominated John McCain.
• John McCain was nominated primarily due to 2 factors (there were others, but these are the main ones)
1. Crossover voting in the open primary states (Democrats voting for McCain)
2. The gradual takeover of the Republican Party from the Reagan Republicans by northeast big government moderate Republicans
• Sarah Palin didn't cost the Republicans votes, she actually drew some conservatives back to McCain, foolishly thinking that the VP actually matters from a policy standpoint.
• Conservatism is on the ropes, and has been ever since the "big tent" moderates in the Republican Party tried to get more votes by including more liberalism rather than actually make the argument that conservatism is the better choice (i.e. pandering to liberals instead of exposing their foolishness and stupidity).
• From what I can tell, Obama voters were motivated primarily by one of the following:
• Latent communist tendencies take from the wealthy and give to the needy.
• Mindless race identity politics.
• Left-wing blogs and the lamestream media onslaught against George Bush (i.e. LIES).
• A rockstar groupie mentality.

So what are we looking at going forward? I see 2 possible scenarios:

The Bill Clinton Scenario

Obama doesn't give a crap about you and the promises and ideas he used to get elected. His presidency goes 24/7/365 into squelching negative press and paying off his inner circle, with little attention paid to policy and legislation. This is the best scenario conservatives can hope for.

The Atlas Shrugged Scenario

If you have not read and understood Atlas Shrugged, then you can't possibly understand today's headlong rush toward communism. Read it before you attempt to formulate one more political thought.

In this scenario, Obama begins implementing the redistribution of wealth and government-mandated "fairness". Producers - people who use their talents to create value - get fed up with spinning their wheels feeding the families of looters - those who game the system for "free income". This escalates toward communism as the government insists that producers work ever harder for ever less. One by one the producers say "F That!", and drop their tools, exiting productive life.

Eventually the government enacts a series of laws aimed to "cure" crisis after crisis, until the only way to get anything done (like feeding people, building roads, police, firemen, teachers - anything) is to force people to work by pointing guns at their heads. That is, if you can convince soldiers to work for free and point their guns at their own countrymen, whose only crime is refusing to work for no income (i.e. slavery).

I know. You Obama Supporters think he can wave a wand, and the giant treasuries of government will open upon you, buying you unlimited health care, abortions, lower the price of gas, and raising your prosperity. Unity and beauty will burst forth upon the land and everyone will suddenly agree. But you really need to wake up. Value is created by producers. The Government produces nothing. They only have the power to loot people who do produce. Once the taxes go up so high it's no longer worth it to work, the economy will end. It's okay, The United States had a good run - until you all voted for communism. But hey, we got a black (sort of) president! I'm sure wherever there are free people in ten generations or so, they will teach that to their kids. Until then, let's party! Obamalot has come!
