Poser is a 3D Character rendering program that at one time showed some promise for making virtual people possible for web sites, games, and whatnot.
I used a Poser model to do a web site graphic of a girl using a laptop. I tried to render the scene with ultra-high resolution so I could get the cool reflections off the laptop screen.
Well, no dice. It still looks way too cartoony - even with the realism set as high as it goes. So I thought, Screw the realism, let's go with a cartoon layout!. I set the preview window to cartoon, and whoops! The shirt (yes some guys put clothing on their virtual girls) was flesh-tone, and the skin was gray! Hmmmm. So I click the paint bucket and POSER FREEZES UP FOR 5 MINUTES! DAMMIT!
So after it comes back, I click the skin of my poor gray girl and it WILL NOT, WILL NOT, WILL NOT select her no matter what! It keeps trying to select "point light 3"! So, Ok. I go into the Materials Manager, and Poser FREEZES FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES! I got so frustrated that I was clicking EVERYTHING hoping to get ANYTHING to respond!
That's it! Those of you who know me know that I hate free open source software, because of the crappy quality, but POSER is off my list of acceptable software packages. I frakking spent real money on this piece of crap and it is COMPLETELY UNUSABLE!
Geez, I'm off to the hospital to get myself checked for an aneurysm.
