Live Right, Play by the Rules, and...

...get totally screwed.

I realize that this is just the white house floating a trial balloon, but I want to state how I feel about this kind of crap in no uncertain terms.

First the story...
How Would Forgiving Mortgage Debt Affect Obama and the Midterms?

According to the story, there are...
...rumors of a plan by the Obama administration to order Fannie and Freddie to forgive some debt on underwater mortgages (in which homeowners owe more than the value of their homes)
And it's not even being played as economic stimulus, it's being played as pandering for votes.  Kudos for the lack of pretense but still...

So the message here is:  Work hard, live within your means, pay your taxes, and we'll hand your earnings over to people who lived beyond their means, overspent - and the banks who robbed them.

I for one am sick and tired of living by the rules and watching them get systematically ignored for everyone else.  Here's a list of a few choice rules that just don't matter...
  1. Prop 8 doesn't matter because 1 gay judge in a black robe says so.  The word marriage (like the word gay), is now meaningless (pending appeal to the Supremes).  Frankly I don't see what article of the constitution grants the federal court any jurisdiction in this matter, but the Constitution is toilet paper in the Banana Republic of America.
  2. Immigration law doesn't matter.  Congressmen pass the laws to placate the masses and once re-elected, snicker in their cloakrooms that they will just not enforce them.  And if anyone does try to enforce them, even to protect their citizens from a massive crime wave, well they can just go to Hell.  The Feds will come down not on the drug traffickers and lawbreakers, but on the state struggling to stop the rape, murder, plunder, and drugs.
  3. The government can take over a car company (illegal) to pay off unions, and then suddenly there are all kinds of investigations into it's competitors (conflict of interest).  Government auto purchases suddenly all go to that company (those of you who thought that the Cheney/Haliburton connections and lack of competitive bidding were the work of the Antichrist, where are you on this?)  Oh, and after the Democrat Congress backed away from Acorn for their obvious election tampering, suddenly GM, the newest arm of the Democrat machine, was found PROPPING ACORN UP WITH BAILOUT AND STIMULUS MONEY.  But not to worry, the 8 Republicans left in Washington would never get an investigation started so who cares?
  4. Last year Congress created a "stimulus fund' by law and gave it a specific purpose.   Some of the funds loaned out of that pool have been paid back, and Congress starts every day, every hour, every phone call  saying "we can use that money to...".  The bailouts are the direct cause of the Tea Party Movement.  The taxpayers are livid that they are being soaked to pay off banks, unions, cronies, groups like Acorn, and the Congressional "friends and family' plan.  By the way the stimulus and bailouts are unconstitutional, illegal, and nothing but bad for the economy.  That goes for the Bush AND the Obama bailouts.  They are nothing but political payola.
It seems that in this regime, it doesn't matter who breaks the law, it matters who you know once you do.  I am a small businessman earning less than minimum wage.  Next year I will be breaking the law because I cannot afford health insurance.  I will be fined (in the name of being helped).  The following year the fine increases.  After that, I can be jailed.  Will I get any relief?  Nope.  All the people I know are you few who read my blog.  Are we up to 8 readers now?

I have loans and bills I can barely pay.  I stretch out my payments and some of my clients are doing the same.  The only thing this regime seems to think might help is if I keep borrowing more and more money.  Thats their solution to my economic woes.  Anyone with a brain stem knows that when business ebbs, you don't go out and incur more debt.  You pay off debt and live frugally.  What I can really use - what businesses all over the country could really use - what this economy could really use - is the repeal of all corporate and personal income taxes, the decimation (or better yet, evisceration)  of the Federal Government, and the torching of all federal laws that cannot be directly justified from the Constitution.

But I know how banana republics operate.  What I expect is to get a big STFU from the government, and oh yeah, we're taking your house and 401K - what are you gonna do about it?
