What do you think of the idea of replacing an income tax with a national sales tax? The merits that I have heard suggested for such a system include a pre-established and totally automatic collection system, a system that rewards saving rather than failing to make money, and the fact that everyone, including illegal aliens, foreign diplomats, etc., would automatically pay taxes.
